I think maybe I'm addicted to blogging...

Apparently one blog is not nearly enough for me. I just HAD to go and get myself a tumblr.

It's fly-wren-fly.tumblr.com and it will be all the random crap you probably don't want to read. Or maybe if random crap is your favorite part of my blog, you'll like it. So far I only have like five posts. Follow me? C:

Aaand if you need reminding, my art blog is artbywren.blogspot.com. I post good things there.

Stay tuned for a blog about One Direction, because that's what you're getting on Friday!

One Direction?

Okay, if you are a human who does not live in a cave or under a rock or somewhere that doesn't have the internet or even radio, that picture should strike some kind of emotion in you.

Was it...

A. Extreme fan-girl crazy-love?

B. Extreme hate for all young male pop stars?

C. No, there is no third option.

Actually just kidding. I am the third option. I don't hate One Direction but I'm not a gigantic fan either. I'm like, 'meh, pop music...they're okay, I guess...' I think it's kind of unfair to automatically hate a boy band or pop star just because you want a target for your anger. So...I don't hate One Direction. It's kind of like how I don't hate Justin Beiber, and I think it's dumb for other people to hate him. I am by no means a fan. Ew. But I don't hate him, or his music, because it really isn't that bad and there are artists out there that are worse.

I just think it's weird that there are boys bands again. Big Time Rush was kind of trying to bring back boy bands, I guess. I don't particuarly like them either. Mostly because their TV show was only funny for like, three episodes and then it got too Disney Channel. You know what I mean, right? When a show gets Disney Channel enough that you can't enjoy it anymore?

Anyway, One Direction. Share your opinions.

Cecilia said the one called Louis looks like my brother...so...cool?

Ah! And here's 63 Reasons Why Boybands Were Better in the 90's. I hope you laugh, because I did!

Day of Silence and 30 Hour Famine

Posted by Wren on April 20, 2012 at 4:20 PM Comments comments (2)

Today I participated/am participating in both the Day of Silence and the 30 Hour Famine! Whee!

For those who don't know what either or both of those are...

The Day of Silence, a project of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), is a student-led day of action when concerned students take some form of a vow of silence to bring attention to the name-calling, bullying and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) students and their allies.

And the 30 Hour Famine, which is run by an organization called World Vision, is a worldwide movement of students who are serious about their faith, serious about changing their world, and serious about having fun while they're at it! Since 1992, countless teens from across the United States have drawn closer to Christ, closer to each other, and raised more than $120 million to fight hunger through the 30 Hour Famine. Combine that with the teens from 20 other countries in the world who do the Famine each year, and you've got a powerful movement that is changing the world.

(Those were both from the DOS and 30HF's facebook pages.)

So all day at school today I wore one of these buttons and didn't talk, and starting after lunch, didn't eat.

Some people look at both of these and say, "Great, you're not eating/talking. Isn't that counter-productive? What does it actually DO?"

Well, they both raise awareness about important issues. Also, they're sort of a glimpse (if only for a day) of what it's like to be those under circumstances. Silence and hunger. And the Famine raises money that goes toward helping starving families around the world.

This was posted by the Day of Silence's Facebook:

"Dear LGBT or allied student, Thank you for taking action and standing silent. You are calling attention to the silencing effects of anti-LGBT bullying, discrimination and harassment present in too many schools across the country. Your brave actions show other students that there can and will be a change in America's schools. You are changing hearts and minds and helping people to become more accepting and understanding! Please know that you have a true partner in me and that I will always support LGBT and allied youth wherever they need it.

Thank you again for all that you do.

Sincerely, Craig H., North Collins, NY"

Both these causes are really important and I'm glad I was a part of them. Especially the Famine, because the cool thing about that is it's actually made a big impact on the number of kids that die of starvation. Yay!

New stuff: forum posts.

Sorry I didn't write a blog last week. I had nothing to write about..

This week won't be much better, heh heh. I just wrote a few forum posts that you may or may not be interested in. Either way, you should go read them and reply! Please?

The Glee Project Season 2 Contestants!!! - Yes! They've been announced!

Interview with Darren Criss! - I've linked an article with an interview with Darren about the last episode of Glee, "Big Brother."

In case you haven't noticed, the Glee folder is almost entirely Darren Criss-related - Basically I found Darren Criss' yearbook picture.

The Season 2 Finale was packed with cliff-hangers. - I think we all wanted to axe our TVs after the last episode of Being Human.

Lucid dreams - Cecilia and I talk about our dreams.

And you can click here to see more posts people have replied to recently.

Okay, because my posts have not been adequate as of late, I'll write another blog tomorrow AND put new things on my art blog (which, by the way, you should have bookmarked). Maybe I'll even add more songs to the playlist on the games page.

Bye now! I'm going to go watch CSI!

Pointless Stories (and Quotes), Part I

Posted by Wren on March 31, 2012 at 7:40 PM Comments comments (4)

"new posts friday-ish" is a bit more accurate than what I had before.

A few days ago I was at the store getting ice cream, and while I was in the freezer aisle trying to decide between peanut butter/chocolate ice cream and ice cream with whoppers in it, this concerned-looking woman wandered up to me and said, "I'm sorry, but which of these do you think would go better with apple crisp?" I looked up to see her holding a tub of Artisan Vanilla Bean in one hand and a tub of Vividly Vanilla in the other. "There was also French Vanilla," the woman said, pondering to herself.

I was trying not to laugh at her, becuase that's totally what I did once I left the freezer aisle, so I took on this wise, ice cream-knowledgeable tone and told her very seriously that Artisan Vanilla Bean would probably blend better with the flavors of apple crisp, and Vividly Vanilla might be a little too vivid to go as an added touch. She thanked me and turned back to her cart, still weighing the options in her hands.

I was watching Being Human with Cecilia and Erin last night, and Erin suddenly said, "If your mashed potatoes talked, would you eat them?" then tried to explain that it had somehow related to vampires. I stopped listening to her spiel because it was too weird, but it ended with something along the lines of "because mashed potatoes are kind of like humans. I think I'd eat my potatoes if they talked."

My grandpa recently got moved to a nursing home and he hates it. I was talking to him on the phone and when I asked what he was up to over there, he said, "Oh, just lying in my bed, enjoying the ceiling."

Yesterday when Erin was at my house, we had the brilliant idea to make cupcake cones. We had somehow obtained funfetti cake mix and found 'mini kids ice cream cones' in my cupboard.

Now, mind you, they were serious about the mini part. Those cones are probably less than two inches tall.

So we made the batter, poured it in the mini cones in a muffin tin and baked them. They were THE BEST.

THE HUNGER GAMES

Posted by Wren on March 24, 2012 at 1:20 AM Comments comments (0)

I SAW THE HUNGER GAMES about 25 hours ago with Maddie and that one that calls herself hprox529!! I will proceed to tell all the things I thought about. There may or may not be spoilers.

And I will preceed this by saying I usually don't think movies are bad unless I really didn't like the book or books (Twilight), any or all of the lead actors (The Last Song (Miley Cyrus) and Twilight (Kristen Stewart)), or if it's just not a good movie (Mr. Accident). So if it's a just-okay movie, I'll probably think it was really good. This is pretty much the same as my scale of how much I like various books.

First, The Hunger Games looked picture-perfect exactly how my mind saw it when I read the books, and if any parts weren't exactly how I pictured them, they were better. The scenery, architecture, costumes, everything, it was all perfect. Especially the costumes of the people in the Capitol. Amazing.

Also, I really liked the cast. Even though I always always imagined Strify as Cinna. Lenny Kravitz was still fantastic. In my opinion, they all were fantastic. And Rue and Prim were so cute!

Oh, and Seneca Crane. Pretty much the coolest guy ever. It's all in the beard. His beard has its own Facebook page.

not team peeta. not team gale. team seneca crane.

If I was a guy, I would want facial hair this fabulous. *sigh*

One last thing regarding this awesome movie: there was not enough Gale. I like Gale, and he could have been in there a little more.

    But whateverrrr.

Have you seen the movie yet? Are you going to see it? If you have, what did you think? Head on over to my forum and talk about it! I want to hear your opinions.

    K, that's all. I'm beyond tired.

Yet another post about CREAL

Posted by Wren on March 17, 2012 at 11:30 PM Comments comments (2)

First of all, sorry I didn't post on Friday. My brother is here and I was hanging out with him and I completely forgot to write a blog post.

But.

Here is the deal, everyone: I have some really cool friends. They have formed themselves a freaking SWEET band called Creal. In case you have forgotten, I posted this thing here about them a while ago. Go read it.

But the reason I'm posting again is this: they just recorded like six songs and put them up on SoundCloud (link below).

    CREAL

    CREAL IS FANTASTIC

    Creal, guys.

Every time I listen to their music, they're so good I forget they aren't well-known. Or like, known at all. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO is check out their songs, I'll give you a ton of links, and enjoy them. Even though I know I don't get a megaton of readers, I'm going to ask the few of you I have to do me a solid and check out Creal. Because I love them and their music and you should too.

Spread the word! The word is Creal!

Tell your friends! Tell your enemies! I don't care!

Follow them, subscribe to them, like them! I demand it!

Creal on SoundCloud! (listen to some new songs they just recorded!)

Creal on YouTube! (watch a few low-quality videos of them playing in Ivan's basement!)

Creal on Facebook! (get updates on when they're playing and other such Crealstuff)

That's all for now.

Now go make my friends famous!

Opinions on the alleged 2012 APOCALYPSE

Posted by Wren on March 2, 2012 at 4:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Another topic we wrote about in English was apocalypses (zombie, or otherwise). I already posted something in the forums about 2012, so go share your thoughts on it if you want.

The world will end at some point, and the human race will definitely be gone before then. I think the 'apocalypse' will happen slowly, if at all. All the things humans messed up will get worse, like the fossil fuels running out, ocean levels rising, and the ozone later deteriorating. It will all reach a point that our species won't be able to survive and we'll die off like the dinosaurs, but I don't think it will happen on the 21st of December this year.

Last year I saw a video of a Mayan guy explaining what the end of the calendar meant. He said it's nothing to fear, it's just the end of an age and a new age will begin. This fascinates me. If the Mayans calculated this out to a specific day, it must have meant something big.

Learning about various ways the world could end is so interesting to me. I have a couple of books that discuss the theories some cultures ir religions have on the end of the world, natural causes of the end of the world, and things that could happen because of human influence. I like watching episodes of The Universe that talk about the end of the world.

So maybe December 21st is the beginning of a 'new age.' I just think it will be like all the other days people said the 'apocalypse' or 'Rapture' would happen: it will go just as every other day has gone. Normally. Nothing will happen.

There you go. What do you think will happen on December 21st this year?

I have been listening to dubstep remixes of popular songs for a few hours now...this one is a remix of In The End by Linkin Park. "It starts with.. WUBWUBWUBWUB"

Okay, I have to write go something for Haylie. Bye now!

The Woman in Black!

Posted by Wren on February 24, 2012 at 1:10 PM Comments comments (2)

Yesterday I went to see The Woman in Black with Maddie (koolkripple22, she's my movie-going buddy). Because we went at 5:30 on a Thursday, we were almost the only ones in the whole theater. Until like five other people came in and sat a few rows behind us.

The movie was AWESOME. The second half was way scarier than the first half (Maddie descirbed it as "non-stop terror" until the end of the movie), probably because we were cracking stupid Harry Potter jokes at Daniel Radcliffe until it got really terrifying.

"Is that Platfrom nine and three-quarters?"

"You can't miss the Hogwarts Express, Harry!"

"RUN, HARRY! RUN FOR THE SNITCH!"

"Use your invisibility cloak, Harry!"

But once we started seeing dead people screaming we shut up.

The plot was really good. Arthur Gibbs (Harry- oh, sorry, I mean Daniel Radcliffe) is assigned the job of going to this woman's old house and finding documents and stuff there. When he got to the village and went to the house, he started seeing this creepy figure in and around the mansion. Also kids in the town started dying and everyone blamed Gibbs.

Ahh, how I love horrifying movies. Maddie and I were scared crapless. Not to say we had...messed ourselves...but I was like, cowering in my seat and Maddie had her eyes closed a lot of the time.

So if you like scary movies like me, go see it! I recommend it. If you have seen it, leave a comment saying what you thought of it.

Dreams!

Posted by Wren on February 10, 2012 at 9:15 PM Comments comments (4)

I don't think I've ever written a blog about dreams! Well now it's time!

I find dreams really cool and interesting. They can be so amazing and fun and crazy and completely illogical but the best part is, it all makes sense when you're in it. Dreams are some of my favorite things to talk about! That's probably why I loved Inception so much. Also Ellen Page. I love her too.

But yeah, dreaming. I write all my dreams down so I can remember them. Over time I think it made it easier for me to control them.

I made a forum folder where we can talk about dreams, if you want. (I put it in the 'oh hello there' heading because I didn't have a better place for it.)

Link time! These sites are cool!

World of Lucid Dreaming - I just found this site and it's AWESOME. Watch the animation thing on the homepage. It explains lucid dreaming. If you want to learn more about it, read some of the articles.

Dreammoods.com - You can look up things you saw in your dream and see what they might signify.

And one last thing: I cannot WAIT for the Hunger Games movie. It is going to be pretty much the coolest thing ever.
